Archbishop Blase Cupich ushered in his first Christmas as head of the Chicago Archdiocese Thursday.

Following Christmas mass at Holy Name Cathedral, Cupich led mass at Division 11 of Cook County Jail.

More than 100 inmates heard his message of hope in English and Spanish. In his homily, Cupich discussed doubtfulness and how it can fester in people whether or not they're behind bars.

"Or maybe in which we have disappointed ourselves, and told ourselves we're going to try to be better and yet we fall in the same old patterns of behavior. That's something that plagues all of us -- not just you who are here in Cook County Jail," Cupich said.
