A big change is headed for some courtrooms in Cook County.

There will be more than a judge and jury watching; now there will be cameras allowed during some trials.

Within the last week, the state Supreme Court approved an expansion of a cameras-in-the-courtroom pilot program to Cook County.

Two years ago the program started throughout Illinois in smaller jurisdictions. But on Jan. 5, the criminal court division at 26th and California will be the first to allow this type of access.
