Child being monitored for Ebola discharged

A child who was being monitored for possible Ebola symptoms has been discharged.

Tests by the Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed a negative result for Ebola, according to a statement by University of Chicago Medical Center.

Earlier Saturday the child remained in stable condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The child was admitted after federal authorities detected a fever during screening at O’Hare airport Friday night.

Officials say the child had no other symptoms.

There have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in Chicago.
