Some Lincoln Park and Lakeview residents united in their fight against the idea of a medical marijuana dispensary in their neighborhood.

They held an indoor block party Sunday afternoon at the proposed site at Diversey and Halsted streets.

The concerned neighbors say the proposed dispensary location is a bad idea because it’s a residential area and the business could lead to an increase in crime.

They’re also concerned over long lines and traffic congestion.

Opponents stress they are not opposed to medicinal marijuana, just this proposed Lakeview medical marijuana dispensary in their neighborhood.

This kind of thing always happens in rural areas where the people are less educated and there’s nothing better to do e.g. churches and little gatherings

Maybe we should have a “block party” every time a bank opens up in the neighborhood. I worry for the children because there are armed security guards and potential for crime that would be happening away from my house.
