Three Chicago police officers were injured when their squad car was hit on the South Side, then pinned against a light pole.

The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, near 87th and Loomis.

The squad car was heading west, about to make a right turn, when it was hit by another westbound car.

That driver will be cited.

The passenger of that vehicle has a head injury from hitting the windshield.

A firefighter was also hurt while trying to free the officers from the wreckage.
