A boy from Calumet Park is expected to walk again, after a Metra train severed half of his left leg.
11-year-old Alex Zepeda ducked under the railroad crossing gates while chasing a school bus, and didn’t see the train bearing down on him.
His leg had to be amputated below the knee, but he’ll be fitted for a prosthetic leg soon.
Alex’s father says he just grateful that God let his son live, and that he’ll be able to walk again.
