A Chicago Bears fan tells WGN-TV he and a friend were stabbed by fellow Bears fans after he joked about wishing he was a Green Bay Packers fan.

It happened around 10:45 pm in the 400 block of E. 18th St. in a parking lot outside Soldier Field following Thursday night’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The 21-year old man, who did not want to be identified, says someone threw beer in his face. He later realized he had been stabbed in the right shoulder. His 22-year old friend was stabbed 9 times in the back. Both men were treated and released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The victim’s account is different from the police report.

According to police, four Cowboys fans began yelling “Bears suck” at  the two men from Oak Lawn. The victims yelled back “Cowboys suck” and someone from the group of Cowboys fans threw beer into the eyes of one of the Bears fans. The Cowboys fans then jumped on the Bears fans and cut them with an unknown object, the report said.

Police say the attackers fled in a red or maroon car, possibly a Mitsubishi Mirage or Mazda Protégé.
