A former chief of staff to a Chicago alderman pleaded guilty Thursday morning to bribery.

63 year-old Curtis V. Thompson Jr. took a $7,500 bribe, while working for 21st ward Alderman Howard Brookins.

Thompson thought he was accepting the money from a developer who wanted to sell alcohol at a proposed, convenience store in Brookins’ ward.

But, the person was actually an undercover FBI informant, armed with a hidden camera.

The money was stuffed inside a Christmas card at the alderman’s holiday party last year.

Brookins isn’t charged in the case.
