Grandparents arrested after teen found living in feces, weighing 40 pounds: police
A couple was arrested for keeping their granddaughter malnourished and in deplorable conditions.
Steve and Joetta Sells are both charged with child neglect.
Police in Anderson, Indiana say they kept their granddaughter locked in a padlocked room with a mattress, a space heater and a bucket.
The girl is 15-years-old and has a developmental disability.
She only weighs 40-pounds.
Police say human waste covered everything in her room, and there was blood on the floor.
Police say sells told them the girl was malnourished because of a brain disorder.
He also said the girl was very strong and that he kept her locked up, to protect her.
A 4-year-old was also removed from the home.
