Midway Airport saw a near constant coming and going of planes, on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
But, earlier in the day, there was a stoppage on the ground inside the airport, when security lines stretched back as far as a mile.
Thousands of travelers converged on the checkpoint as TSA agents struggled to keep up.
Either by plane, train or automobile 46 million Americans were expected to travel 50-miles or more this Thanksgiving holiday according to AAA. That's the highest number since 2007.
As of mid-afternoon more than 1,800 US Flights were delayed and more than 150 were canceled, according to flightaware.com but very few of them in Chicago.
