U.S. Senator Mark Kirk kicked-off Small Business Saturday by highlighting the local success story of Husky Hog BBQ, one of the first food trucks in Chicago which recently expanded into a Bridgeport restaurant.

Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 by American Express to encourage people to shop at small businesses. Last year, Small Business Saturday generated $5.6 billion in sales nationally for locally-owned retailers and restaurants. In 2013, the Small Business Administration had 1,677,488 small businesses registered in Illinois.
