The former leader of Egypt — Hosni Mubarak —  acquitted of criminal charges today.

He was accused of arranging to kill protesters during the “Arab Spring” revolution in 2011.

The court threw out those charges, and also found Mubarak not guilty of corruption.

This was Mubarak’s second trial on the same charges.

He was convicted in 2012 of helping to kill protesters, but was granted a new trial.

The 86-year-old former president remains jailed for embezzlement, after he was convicted earlier this year.
