Multiple people have been arrested at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

PIX11 reports that a group of protesters broke from their route and clashed with police officers.

According to NYPD, seven people were arrested after overturning a garbage can and attempting to run toward the parade floats.

About 50 protesters were allowed by police to walk, but only up to a certain point. Instead of walking where they were directed, they turned around and tried to run back towards the Macy’s route.

Some protesters remained where they were told, and protested peacefully.

The protest was organized on Twitter using the hashtag #stoptheparade.
