Winter-like temps claim 2 lives in Cook County this week

Cold weather has been a factor in the deaths of two people in Cook County this week.

Richard Faust, of the 300 block of South Grayfriars Lane in Inverness died Sunday of hypothermia and exposure to cold.  He was 82.

A 68-year-old woman from North Lawndale was found unresponsive Monday night in her backyard.  Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. at her home on the 4200 block of West 21st Street.  Mattie Gallion was pronounced dead from heart disease and cold exposure.

There were at least 31 cold-related deaths in Cook County last winter.
