Couple bought teen for $50, forced her into prostitution
A teenage girl is safe after police say she was a victim of a human trafficking ring.
Two people were arrested Tuesday night in San Antonio, Texas on a charge of prostituting a teenager girl online.
Tabitha Donabella, 25, and her boyfriend Kalub Tsandula, 25, were taken into custody in the 200 block of South Plaza.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the couple have been charged with human trafficking.
“She told me she was 18. I was trying to protect her from some men that were hurting her,” said Donabella.
“I didn’t do anything. I understand I did something wrong but I’m very confused and I apologize to anyone that may be affected by this,” said Tsandula.
SAPD said the couple prostituted the girl from Nov. 7 to Nov. 12.
Investigators said the couple both admitted to profiting from the teenager, but didn’t realize she was a minor.
SAPD Officer Douglas Greene said investigators determined the couple bought the girl for $50.
“Through that purchase they solicited the victim in online ads and made a profit from the victim engaging in sexual acts,” Greene said.
If anyone recognizes the couple and believe they may have been a victim, they are encouraged to call the special victims unit at 210-207-2313.
