Report: 4 college students charged with stealing Ronald McDonald statue
Four students attending Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. were arrested in connection with the missing Ronald McDonald statue at Illinois Route 50 in Bradley, the Daily Journal in Kanakee, Ill. reported.
According to the Daily Journal, the life-size statue was found at an ONU dormitory room earlier this week. Police identified the suspects from video surveillance.
The Bradley Police department released surveillance footage on the Internet back on Nov. 12 in hopes viewers could help track down the suspects. A YouTube video, uploaded by user Kankakee Sheriff, appears to show the theft.
According to the Daily Journal, Wyatt C. Petty, 18, of LaGrange, Ind.; Cody J. Shively, 19, Mishawaka, Ind.; John R. Witts, 18, Ft. Worth, Tx.; and Savannah F. Baldauf, 18, Seneca, Ill., were charged with felony theft.
“The Hamburglar was not a suspect, as much as everyone thought he was,” Brandon Jensen, the Bradley police detective who investigated the case, told the Daily Journal.
