Bail was denied for a Chicago man charged in connection with a shooting at the Harlem-Irving Plaza mall.

Everett D. Harris, 31, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery on a public way and two counts of aggravated kidnapping, according to a statement from the Norridge Police Department.

Harris is also being charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated driving with a revoked license.

Police say Harris took his ex-girlfriend's children Thursday morning, without her permission.

Then, he agreed to return them in the parking lot of the mall in Norridge that afternoon.

Prosecutors say that's when Harris shot his ex-girlfriend four times, and also shot her cousin. They are both still in the hospital, but expected to survive.

The children were not hurt.
