Firefighters battle blaze at North Riverside Park Mall

A fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the Carson Pirie Scott store at the North Riverside Park Mall, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to 7501 W. Cermak Road in North Riverside about 4:15 a.m. North Riverside fire officials said.

The fire was upgraded to a box alarm. As of 6:30 a.m., the fire was under control and crews were preparing to investigate the cause,  fire officials said.

It was not known if anyone was inside the store at the time or if there were any injuries.
