Fifth teen arrested in Gurnee sexting case
A fifth teenager has been arrested in the alleged sexting and cyberbullying of a female high school student in Gurnee.
The 14-year-old boy is from Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein.
Also arrested, are a girl from Grayslake Central High School and three boys from Warren Township High School.
All five teens are freshmen and are under their parent’s supervision.
The case has been under investigation since October 24, when the girl contacted police and said she’d been the victim of sexting and cyberbully on the cellphone.
Gurnee police have recommended charges of distribution of child pornography for all five teens. That charge is a felony.
Police say they do not have any other suspects.
