A scam involving a taxi cab driver stealing debit cards is being investigated by police in Chicago and Evanston.

Joe Tosch says he took a Yellow Cab from Boystown to Buena Park last month.

He paid for the ride using his debit card but didn't realize the driver gave him back a card that belonged to someone else.

By the next morning, his account was empty, and the bank was calling to ask about some suspicious transactions.

Police say they're using surveillance video and have several leads in this case and another one with similar circumstances.

They recommend using a credit card because it's easier to dispute charges, and watch to make sure no one ever takes a picture of your card or writes down the numbers.
