Chicago murder rate dropping, FBI confirms

The FBI is now confirming that Chicago’s murder rate in 2013 dropped 16-percent from the previous year.

The city’s murder rate was only one-third that of Detroit, the nation’s murder capital.

Police superintendent Garry McCarthy credits the deployment of additional police patrol officers in high-crime areas.

Robberies, burglaries and property crimes also dropped in 2013.
