Governor Pat Quinn, Governor-Elect Bruce Rauner, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Senator Mark Kirk were among the dignitaries attending the city of Chicago's Veterans Day ceremony at Soldier Field this morning.

The ceremony included the traditional military posting of the flags and rousing music from the Great Lakes Naval marching band.

The political drama of the morning occurred when Quinn and Rauner entered the room.  They stayed far apart, never shook hands and never spoke to each other.  During his remarks Quinn never even acknowledged that Rauner was in the building.

Quinn kept his remarks strictly on the military.

"We need to make every day Veterans Day, to honor all of those who answered the call to duty," Quinn told the gathering.

Mayor Emanuel and two members of the armed forces laid a wreath at the base of the doughboy's statue at Soldier Field.
