Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner may have called House Speaker Michael Madigan after all.

Rauner will be the state’s first republican governor in 13 years.

After he defeated Governor Pat Quinn in the election Tuesday, he told a crowd of supporters, “I placed two very important phone calls. I called Speaker Madigan. I called [Senate] President [John] Cullerton, and I said to them ‘This is an opportunity for us to work together.'”

Cullerton’s office said his aide did talk to one of Rauner’s aides.

Madigan’s office said it didn’t know about any phone calls.

But then two days later, Madigan’s staff found Rauner’s voice-mail.

“We found a voice-mail from an unknown number,” Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said on Thursday. “The bottom line is, they never talked on election night.”

This state is in a financial down fall. Crime is everywhere. People need jobs and affordable housing options. Education system and the pension mess needs to be fixed. Money needs to be put back into mental health to help those in need of the services and all the media can focus on is if someone made a telephone call to someone else and if the other party received that call. The things we teach our children not to do (be petty “he said, she said”) is what we see everyday in the media.
