Chicago's Christmas tree was chopped down today.  Next stop: Daley Plaza.

The 57-foot Colorado Blue Spruce is coming from Elgin.

The owner wants to get rid of it, because the tree overshadows her house.

She nominated it the past three years, but it was always a runner-up.

The tree will be delivered to Daley Plaza Friday to be decorated.

The city's official tree lighting ceremony is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

WGN's own Micah Materre will emcee the ceremony.
