Possible meteor sightings reported in Chicago area

A large meteor was spotted over a portion of the country, including Chicago.

The meteor is that white streak you see in the dark sky.

This was spotted around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

There were similar reports from witnesses in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

According to the American Meteor Society, about 10 to 15 meteorites fall to earth every day.

They say sightings are rare because they usually fall over the ocean or during the day.
