Winter came early to some parts of the southern U.S., setting records in Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.

Some parts of the Great Smoky Mountains got almost two feet of snow.

More snow is expected in mountainous regions.  Up to six inches is expected in North Carolina's higher elevations.

Temperatures in the South are expected to fall near or below freezing tonight.
