A video posted back in April has seen a resurgence on social media lately warning about the dangers of texting and driving.
In the short but powerful 3 minutes, 20-year-old Liz, along with her mother, tell their story.
“I thought I was invincible,” Liz says.
Liz was in high school when she was in an accident caused by reading a text while driving. She is now blind in one eye. The accident also left her with a diminished sense of smell, she cannot fall asleep without medication nor can she hear well.
She says the most difficult part of all of it, was going from being very social and popular to being alone, without friends.
“It was overwhelming devastation over a text,” her mother said about the aftermath.
It’s a powerful reminder to drivers young and old not to text or read a text while drivine.
From the YouTube description:
This is the story of how my daughter Liz’s car accident from texting while driving has changed our lives forever. If you get a text, don’t look at it while you’re driving. It’s not worth it.
