The lava flowing from the Kilauea volcano has stalled.

But officials say it still remains on course to hit the town of Pahoa on the Big Island.

The town's 950 residents have been on alert for weeks.

Last weekend the lava flow smothered part of a cemetery and toppled trees.

Authorities have told about 50 families to be prepared to evacuate.
