A clerk at a Loop convenience store is nursing a stab wound after stopping a thief.

It happened Wednesday morning at the 7-11 near Michigan and Randolph.

The clerk, named Zubair, says he saw a man trying to steal some gloves; so he chased the thief, grabbed the gloves and took them back.

But the man pulled out a small knife and cut the clerk in the head.

It took a while for the clerk to realize he’d been stabbed; he finished his work shift by pressing a paper towel over the wound to stop the bleeding.

He says he’ll just get it stitched up.
