Inmate attacks judge in Maywood courtroom

A judge in Maywood was attacked by a defendant appearing in his courtroom Thursday.

The 30-year-old defendant was in court on aggravated battery and attempted murder charges.

He allegedly punched the judge in the head. The judge was possibly also injured by a Taser used to subdue the defendant.

The defendant was being lead out of the courtroom by two deputies. He was not handcuffed and reportedly broke free and lunged at the judge striking him in the head and face.

Law enforcement officers were able to control the defendant after Tasing him.

The man faces multiple felony charges for the attack.
