Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia joins mayor’s race
There’s a new face in the race for mayor of Chicago.
Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia is a former state senator and Southwest Side alderman; he’s begun circulating nominating petitions to challenge Mayor Rahm Emanuel in February.
Garcia says Emanuel has let the people of Chicago down — especially on issues like education and public safety.
But Garcia starts with a big funding deficit; Emanuel has more than $8.7 million in his campaign war chest; Garcia has $15,000.
