The Great Recession of 2007 and 2008 led to more than new mortgage rules: Many more men had vasectomies.

Research from Cornell Medical College found that, from 2007 to 2009, there was a 35 percent increase in vasectomies.

They don't know exactly why so many man chose to get snipped during this time, but anecdotal evidence from urologists suggests that men were worried about the job market and their ability to support kids in a bad economy.
