Kurt Summers Jr. named City Treasurer

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced today that Kurt Summers Jr. will succeed City Treasurer Stephanie Neely, who is stepping down at the end of November to return to the private sector.

Summers will take over as City Treasurer effective December 1, pending approval by the City Council.

Summers is the former chief staff to Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, and he was her appointed trustee for the Cook County Pension Fund.

He also served as chief of staff to Pat Ryan in his role as chairman of the 2016 Summer Olympics bid during the Daley administration.

Most recently Summers served as senior vice president at investment firm GCM Grosvenor.
