At North Riverside Commons, the big push to feed the hungry was on for the third year in a row.

Jim O’toole is one of the coordinators for ‘feed our community day’, bringing together volunteers from church and school groups, as well girl and boy scouts,  like 5th grader Steven Sanduski who came with him family to help.

Packaging these mac and cheese meals to feed six people at a time from northern Illinois.

Bill Kanatas is the driving force behind feed 6. The organization is working to help fill the shelves of local food banks and pantries. The 75-thousand meals being stacked up will go to food bank and pantries to help fill their shelves.

It’s a daunting task for these volunteers who say they take pride in helping, those who need it.
