A Chicago police captain is recovering in the hospital after being shot serving a warrant on the South Side.

The captain, who is in his 50s, was shot in the head and chest. He is expected to survive.

He was serving a warrant in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood to Daniel Brown, who is wanted in a shooting spree in Indianapolis over the weekend.

Police there say he shot a woman who he blamed for breaking up his relationship with his girlfriend.

He then allegedly shot two other people at a motel on the city's west side.

Investigators say he then took off in a stolen car.

All three of the Indianapolis victims survived.
