A reporter at KTVA-TV in Alaska quit her job on-air after revealing herself as the owner of the medical marijuana business Alaska Cannabis Club.

At the end of a  live report on the Alaska Cannabis Club during KTVA’s Sunday night newscast, Charlo Greene made the announcement:

“Now everything you heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy for fighting for freedom and fairness which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska,” she said. “And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, (expletive) it, I quit.”

With that, she simply walked off camera.

In an interview with the Alaska Dispatch News, Greene said KTVA had no idea she was going to quit, or that she was connected to the Alaska Cannabis Club.

On Monday, a video of Greene explaining her actions was posted to the Alaska Cannabis Club’s YouTube channel. She explains, in part: “There comes a time in each and every one of our lives when we must choose to continue to spectate, or stand up for what’s right.” Watch the full video in the player below.

KTVA news director at Bert Rudman issued an apology on station’s Facebook page and said that Greene had been terminated:

The aim of the  Alaska Cannabis Club is to increase access to medical marijuana within the state.

The state will vote on legalizing recreational marijuana use later this year.

    I don’t she should have
    Cursed and used the F—
    Word because they will
Her remember her just for that! Nothing else matters in the eye’s of
    Main stream Society and
    Means White Society.
    She will be Black Listed
Forever in Journalism in the United States. It was a Bold move. Not a very
    Enterprising Tactical
    Move. They will make her
    Pay for that Statement!
    Just wait and watch and
    You will see. They’ll make
    An Example out of her.
You’re not really free here. Especially if you’re
    Black. She will pay dearly.

  • Mitchell Morris

What did she have to gain by using the F—
Word. You must at all times present yourself
    With Class, especially
When you are in the Media. Well …she chose her path, let’s see where it leads her. This new Generation ” I just don’t know.” They act before thinking, and when they
    Re-act they don’t have a plan!!! I just don’t know what’s
    Going to happen to this
New generation. May God be with you.

She’s not a professional journalist and now she’s out of a job, she’ll have plenty of time to think about that, while she smokes her dope.

    • Gina

Um there are other jobs in the world, just so you know, and many that don’t care if she does smoke. Btw legalizing “dope” marijuana boosts up the economy like Colorado’s boom and I mean by 184 million for the state of Colorado in 14 months alone. It does have health benefits for fighting certain cancers in studies, certain tumors, and inflammation in joints and muscles. specifically when the strain contains high CBD and if legalized will be regulated.

For that matter please read an actual scientific book or hell even Wikipedia on the subject without looking ignorant.

  • Gina

Why the f bomb? For this specifically.
People say this generation that generation good bad whatever since eons ago. I mean even when you were our age you should remember adults saying “ugh this new generation with destroy us all,” and you know what? We will probably say that about the next gen too.

  • Brian

Wow. That is seriously embarrassing for the reporter who had to follow up after Charlo’s resignation. She will never forget the time her co-worker quit on live TV!

  • Steve

Just stupid, just incredibly stupid. The knowledge gaps that are present in this young lady’s head is unbelievable. She believes in her mind her actions are justified, sound, and appropriate. She just created the perfect campaign announcement for why Marijuana should not be legalized. unthoughtful, illogical, and dumb.
