Storms cause damage in Chicagoland

Severe storms knocked-down trees and snapped power lines in the area yesterday.

In beecher, the bad weather pushed down utility poles and forced part of Route 1 to shut down.

The road is back open this morning.

Parts of northwest Indiana saw wind speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.

The high winds caused trees to come crashing down in Hebron and Cedar Lake, Indiana.

One landed on a power line.

Crews are working to get the area cleaned up after yesterday's storm.
