NASHVILLE, Tenn — Former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas, 36, was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night near his Nashville home.

“Bironas was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Nashville Police said in a written statement, “when he lost control in a curve shortly after 11 p.m. The SUV traveled off the right side of the road and struck a line of trees before it came to rest upside down in a large culvert area.”

Bironas was later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police said the crash occurred less than a mile from Bironas’ home. Police said they believed he was driving home when he crashed.

Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have played a role in the crash, police said.

Bironas played for the Tennessee Titans for nine seasons. He was released from the team earlier this year.

“We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas,” the Titans said in a statement. “Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time.”

Rachel Bironas is the daughter of Hall of Fame Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw.

My condolences to Rachel Bradshaw and the family of Rob Bironas…but… it doesnt change the fact that the nfl is a morally corrupt monopoly that is sending the wrong message to our youth.

The NFL players in the article below (except Greg Hardy) are still playing even after being arrested for domestic violence… What does this say to our women and children?…What does it say about American morals?

It is time to tell the nfl that placing greed before the welfare of women and children will not be tolerated in our society (nor will covering up such dispicable acts) … Boycott the nfl by boycotting all corporations that advertise during nfl games… Do it for your wives… do it for your children… do it for the morality of America.

The NFL is a disgrace to the fabric of american morals and the human race… A money hungry morally corrupt monopoly played by millionaire wife/ child / animal abusers, rapist, steroid users, murderers and pretty boys who have hung up their jock straps for dresses while trying not to damage their million dollar peticures. The NFL (National Felons League) is damaging to the reputation of America and a shameful role model for our youth. It is time for a new football league to emerge so that we can end this corruption of American morals… called the NFL.

You idiots. This is NOT the forum for your opinions. Baronis was a good person and role model and does not deserve to be disgraced as you two did above. God bless his family during this time of crisis.
