Man grabs children during recess in West Lawn

Police are searching for a man who grabbed two children at an elementary school during recess in the West Lawn neighborhood.

It happened at R.H. Lee Elementary, on the 6400 block of South Tripp, around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

A man pulled a boy off some playground equipment.

After being confronted by staff, witnesses say the man then approached another child and gave her a hug before running off.

Police say he has been seen at the playground several times.

The West Lawn neighborhood has issued a description of the suspect in a community alert: male, 50-60 years old, about 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, with gray hair and gray mustache. He was last seen wearing a jacket, long pants and glasses.
