Jury deliberations underway in Kelli O’Laughlin murder trial

The jury has the case in the high-profile murder 14-year-old Kelli O'Laughlin, killed nearly three years ago in her family's Indian Head Park home.

Earlier Monday, closing arguments were underway.

Prosecutors said John Wilson, Jr. stabbed O’Laughlin with a kitchen knife when she walked in on him while he was robbing her family’s home in 2011.

Police say he then stole the girl’s cell phone and taunted her mother with text messages.

DNA evidence from a knit cap found in the home was later linked to Wilson.

Defense attorneys say the girl may have committed suicide.

Juror are expected to begin deliberations later this week.
