A decision is expected Thursday night on whether the University of Illinois will hire a professor at the center of a Twitter controversy.

The school’s chancellor revoked a job offer to Steven Salaita in August after he made a series of tweets criticizing Israel.

Salaita spoke out against the decision earlier this week, accusing the school of violating his academic freedom.

The Chicago Tribune reports the university’s board of trustees will vote tonight and are expected to go along with the chancellor’s decision and officially vote against hiring Salaita.

He has threatened to file a lawsuit against the university.
