Hundreds filled an Oakwood Hills gymnasium in the far northwestern suburb in a show of force against a natural gas power plant planned for the area.

Villagers say it's going to their voices and some funds to battle the village board to stop the plant from being built in their backyard.

The project is said to cost $450 million dollars and could get underway as soon as January if the board green lights it at a zoning meeting next month.

A sea of red filled the room tonight as locals against the project dressed in solidarity to save their town from this industrial plan in their tranquil setting.

Calls to the village president were not returned.
