The air campaign against ISIS is expanding this morning.

The U.S. has launched airstrikes in western Iraq, targeting ISIS, as the group tries to capture a vital landmark, The Haditha dam.

The airstrikes are part of efforts to beat back militants who have been trying to take over key dams across Iraq.

Isis took control of the Mosul dam in northern Iraq last month, but persistent u-s airstrikes forced out the militants.
