The man charged in a 22-year old cold case murder is now being held without bond after appearing in court Thursday morning.

71-year old Robert Serritella is charged with killing 15-year old David Chereck in 1992.

Chereck was strangled with his own scarf and left in a forest preserve near Morton Grove.

Serritella was arrested in Los Angeles in July.

Cook County sheriff's deputies escorted him on a flight here Wednesday, so he could appear court today.

Serritella has long been the prime suspect and was questioned by police shortly after the murder, but never charged until now.

Prosecutors say they expect Serritella to be indicted on first degree murder charges in the weeks ahead.
