Residents in southwest suburban Burbank are wading through flooded streets, and another heavy downpour is on the way.

Burbank School District 111 closed all elementary and high schools, including Queen of Peace High School. Classes are expected to resume Monday.

The National Weather Service estimates that more than 4.5 inches of rain fell in the area from midnight through 6 a.m. Friday, burying streets under a sea of rainfall. Water slowly in the area began to recede by late morning, but new downpour-generating thunderstorms are on the way, particularly later this afternoon and this evening.
