One person is dead after a police-involved shooting on the Far South Side.

It happened at about 9-45 last night  near 133rd and Forrestville Avenue.

Police say a 21-year-old man was riding a bike in the neighborhood when they attempted to stop him.

Police say the man pointed a gun at their unmarked squad car and an officer jumped out of the car and chased him.  When the man pointed the gun in the officer's direction, police fired in self-defense.

No officers were injured.

The man died on the scene.
