A Chicago mariner put his lifesaving training to the test by rescuing a 93-year-old retired priest who had fallen in the water while watching the Air and Water Show Saturday.
40-year-old Brian Wiles was on a boat at Monroe Harbor when the accident happene. He jumped into the water and held the 93-year-old man in a rescue hold until fellow sailors threw down life vests.
Wiles calmed down the man until fire rescue arrived.
A year ago, Wiles took a captain's training course which included lifesaving techniques.
The 93-year-old is fine.
Wiles suffered a broken finger during the rescue.
