The days of goofy fun with friends are nearly over, much to the dismay of kids all across the area.

But for a group of Chicago YMCA students, they won’t be going back to class empty handed thanks to the Illinois Currency Exchange Charitable Foundation.

More than 75,000 school supplies were donated today to 20,000 Chicago-area students.

500 of those students were on hand at the Broadway Park Armory for a Back To School distribution and celebration.   The event was complete with arts and crafts, bounce houses, fitness and of course, lots of crayons, glue, rulers and paper.

While this is only the second year for the big bash, the back to school program has grown substantially every year.
