Prepare for a new routine

Talk with the child about what it will be like

Ask about the child’s concerns

Make a trial run going to the school

Be positive, excited – school is fun, learning is fun… and important

Don’t “helicopter” – optimal frustration is what allows the child to grow by overcoming!

Be calm, loving and encouraging

The jitters will melt away
