Seven people were injured in that crash that shutdown part of Interstate 57.

The accident involved two vehicles in the southbound lanes, at Route 30, in south suburban Matteson.

One woman was seriously injured when she got ejected from her mini-van. She’s in critical condition, according to the hospital supervisor at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.

Her five children in that van were also injured. All of them are in stable condition at the same hospital.

A 22-year-old, who was in the other car, was also critically injured. The gender of this person was unavailable.

Police have not said how the accident happened.

All southbound lanes are back open, but earlier Tuesday morning, police blocked all lanes while a reconstruction unit investigated.
